How to add a color gradient overlay to your images.

One of the most popular web trends involved adding color gradients to images. Ombre is an easy-to-use tool for applying this effect.

  1. Create a new Ombre project.

    Ombre projects contain a collection of images along with a description of the color gradient overlay to apply to each. To create a project, click the Create New Project button on the Welcome Screen or select File > New from the menubar.

     

  2. Add Images.

    To add individual images or a folder of images, click the Import button on the toolbar or select File > Add Images... from the menubar. You may also drag images and folders from Finder on to the Tray.

     

  3. Adjust the Gradient Settings.

    Select an image, choose a gradient type and adjust the other overlay settings for the image. As adjustments are made, the display will update to reflect the changes.

    Settings may be copied from one image to another using the Lift and Stamp buttons on the toolbar.

     

  4. Export, Share or start a Slide Show.

    Once you have adjusted each image to your satisfaction, you can save the processed images to disk by clicking the Export button on the toolbar or select File > Export Images... from the menubar. .

    To share the processed images with internet services like Facebook and Twitter, click the Share button on the toolbar or select File > Share Images... from the menubar. .

    To start a slide show using the processed images, click the Slide Show button on the toolbar or select View > Start Slideshow... from the menubar. .

     

  5. Save your project.

    Ombre projects are stored in a .ombre file. To save a project, select the File > Save option from the menubar.
